Name: Steve Winter

Location: Oklahoma

Education: B.S. in Natural Resources, Fisheries and Wildlife Management major, from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

M.S. in Biology from Kansas State University.  The research subject was bird and plant communities of prairie dog colonies and non-colonized shortgrass prairie.

Bio: I'm currently pursuing a PhD. in Rangeland Ecology and Management at Oklahoma State University.  I'm studying the interaction of fire and large grazers in sand sage prairie (cattle being the grazer) and tallgrass prairie (bison being the grazer).

Previous jobs have included being a Wildlife Biologist for the San Luis National Wildlife Refuge Complex in California and an Assistant Refuge Manager for Santa Ana and Lower Rio Grande Valley National Wildlife Refuges in Texas.

My interests are the ecology, management and restoration of Great Plains grasslands, music, cinema and my girlfriend Stephanie.
